Alternative forms of students’ assessment: prospects and difficulties in Gymnasium / Middle School
This two-year programme of action research was undertaken by teachers at the Experimental Gymnasium of the University of Crete. Our purpose was to restrain pupils’ pursuit for high grades. In order to achieve their goal, teachers tested alternative forms of assessment in action. Such forms of assessment were descriptive assessment, self-assessment and assessment by others, and pupil portfolio. At the same time, the repercussions of this test were monitored.
