Psychology Lab

The Laboratory of Psychology of the Department of Philosophy and Social Studies was established in 2000, with the initiative of Professor Giannis Kugiumutzakis. It aims at supporting research in the domains of developmental psychology, social and political psychology, and in psychology domains of perception, expression, art and creativity. In parallel, the members of the Laboratory of Psychology collaborate with other laboratories of the department in order to carry out research in the fields of education and culture.

Current Research Projects
1. Social Representations of Diversity: diversity, identities and policy in a comparative context (DIVIDE-IN)
Description: the project studies through qualitative and quantitative methods social representations, political usages and effects of the concept of “diversity”, by retrieving data from general population, Twitter, political organizations, and parliament archives in Greece and Cyprus.

2. Unaccompanied minors and young adults in Greece
Description: this research entails a qualitative study of unaccompanied migrant children and young adults in Greece to document their experiences of support services in Greece in order to inform policy making and the development of child and young adult support services. The Rights Lab is working on this in collaboration with the University of Crete and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, for the National Rapporteur for Trafficking in Human Beings, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hellenic Republic
